BOOK LISTS

If you cannot find what you are looking for please ask ! There are thousands of books still in reserve because ongoing acquisitions make it impossible to keep the book lists completely up-to-date.

CATALOGUES 94 and 95

The remaining items from the December 2016 Catalogue (No. 94) have now been distributed into the open website sections according to subject.

Catalogue No. 95 is now almost complete, and will comprise books from the library of the late Dr Bryan Hainsworth, Fellow of New College Oxford and world-renowned Homeric scholar. Catalogues will be sent to those who have previously requested copies by post, and e-mailed to all the usual recipients from the second half of September 2017. Anybody wishing to be added to the postal or e-mailing list for this specialist issue should contact me as soon as possible.

ABOUT US

The Classics Bookshop was opened in 1975 by Anne and Philip Powell-Jones in Hay-on-Wye.

In 1982 the bookshop moved to Oxford, where their premises, initially on the High Street and subsequently in Turl Street, will still be remembered by many. After 20 years in Oxford they moved the business to Burford, dealing solely through their website and by mail order.

On Anne’s retirement at the end of 2015 the business was acquired by Martyn Shorrock, who will continue trading through the website and by mail order from premises based in Cleobury Mortimer in South Shropshire. Visitors to the area are welcome to come and browse in the Book Room, which is situated in the centre of the village, although this will require prior arrangement as opening hours are not fixed.

We specialise exclusively in Latin and Greek Classics and the Ancient Classical World in all its aspects.

Any queries or requests are always welcome, and we will do our best to help.

N.B. Please note that the new e-mail address for the Bookshop is info@classicsbookshop.co.uk
